Israel Is Hunting Journalists
I'm currently working on a long-form article that argues that Israel is indeed conducting a genocide in both Gaza and Lebanon, an attempt to remove Muslims from Palestine and the "buffer zones" around it and replace them with Jewish settlers, or nobody. This is the definition of ethnic cleansing. Israel is doing this with bombing, shelling, tanks, gunfire, blockade-induced-starvation, destruction of infrastructure like hospitals and schools, the demolition of homes, and the creation of "settlements," just to name a few things.
That's a strong allegation. It deserves strong evidence. I have it, but it's a lot of work to put together, so you'll have to wait. I'll say this -- the same tactics were used by the Syrian government, not far at all from Israel, under Israel's constant supervision. In a year in Gaza, and a few weeks in parts of Lebanon, the IDF has accomplished a level of destruction that meets or maybe supersedes that which we saw in Syria. Assad had the help of Iran, Hezbollah, and Russia. Israel has done this alone, aided by weapons from the United States.
In the meantime, a story has emerged that is frankly unforgivably disturbing.
An alarming number of journalists have been killed in Gaza, more than in any conflict in recent history. This is particularly remarkable when you consider that in Syria, journalists were being hunted by the government, ISIS, and several other Jihadist groups. I know, I lost many friends to that conflict. And yet, in a fraction of the time, Israel has killed far more journalists.
Now the IDF has effectively announced that it will kill all remaining journalists from Al Jazeera if they do not leave Gaza immediately. These may literally be the only remaining journalists in Gaza. The IDF claimed that they have evidence that these journalists are members of Hamas. The Committee To Protect Journalists asked Israel for this evidence. They were provided no evidence, and some of the evidence they were provided about journalists who had already been killed was problematic at best:
The IDF has been hunting journalists and they just announced they're prepared to hunt more. They're frustrated that these journalists have provided clear evidence that Israel is conducting ethnic cleansing, a genocide. The world cannot stand by and let Israel do this.
This article is part of James Miller's "Stream of Consciousness," less-polished thoughts on the world's events as they occur. One should expect less supporting evidence and more typos than James' more polished work which you can find in the Analysis section of this blog.
